Character Background and Description Maisy is a white, infertile female, that currently resides in the Fertility Tribe. She is ten years old and has a twin sister, Madeline. Both have light blonde hair, deep blue eyes, and stand at 4’5 feet tall. The only difference between the two, is a small scar Maisy has on her right arm.
Maisy has recently been blood-tested for fertility and the test came back negative. With these results, she will be forced to leave her family and her tribe behind, in just a few months. Recently, Maisy has been training for her future job as an artisan. She has been hard-working and quickly picked up the skills of ceramics. She has been traded to the Artisan Tribe in exchange for new winter clothing for the tribe’s children.
Growing up, children in the Fertility Tribe are taught not to get too close to any family members or friends, since most children will not remain in the tribe. For Maisy, this was exceedingly difficult. She developed a friendly camaraderie with over 50 members of the tribe. A child having this close of a relationship with so many people was unheard of. Many grieved when hearing of her test results.
Maisy’s reckless optimism kept her in high spirits as she found out her sister’s results. With Madeline being fertile, they would be forced to separate. Although the tribes do interact, Maisy’s first couple years will be spent heavily on training and building bonds in the Artisan Tribe.
